The subject of Health and Social Care enables students to explore various aspects of life through practical and theoretical means. This programme aims to give a broad understanding of the knowledge and skills that are essential when working with people in various health and social care environments. This subject focuses on topics such as;

Learning Journey
Health and Social Care is offered in one of the following routes, the Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) or the Secondary Education Applied Certificate (SEAC).
The SEC route is of an academic nature, which is complemented by a number of practical tasks. This leads to obtaining an O’level certificate which can open up to educational opportunities including further studies at MCAST and other post-secondary institutions (6th Form).
The SEAC route explores the topics through practical tasks. This will lead to a Certificate in the subject which can be presented at MCAST to follow related courses.
Career opportunities
The subject gives students the foundation to work in various sectors including healthcare, child care, elderly care, disability care, community work, social work and education.
